Queen's Plate recap: Lexie Scores (and other thoughts)

Girl power! Lexie Lou gave her trainer Mark Casse his first Queen's Plate winner when she defeated Ami's Holiday and Asserting Bear. We Miss Artie who was the favorite had a poor start, but rallied to finish fourth. I don't think Lexie is a Triple Crown candidate (even though she has the pedigree to do so).

Here is the replay:

A few more thoughts from this weekend

* Untapable shouldn't worry about Lexie even if she can't get the mile and quarter distance in the Alabama as she is more than likely a synth/turf only horse.

* Did I mention how hot Cal breds are? Lexie Lou is out of a Cal bred mare.

* Maybe California Chrome does now have company as Shared Belief passed the dirt test with a win in the Los Alomitos Derby (formally the Swaps).

* How good is Mr. Speaker on turf?!

* Kid Cruz has done well against easier company, another shot at the big boys again next?

More later.
