Too good to be true

Well it looks like that the Zenyatta vs Rachel matchup will never happen. Two days after he first said, that he would like his Champion Zenyatta to face super filly Rachel Alexandra, Jerry Moss has said, that if it where would to happen, it wouldn't most likely happen until after the Breeder's Cup, link. In all honestly, this is extremly disapointing after having what he said this past weekend. While I knew that it was 98% sure it wouldn't have happend, as a fan my heart sank when he said this. My guess is he's trying to play mind games with Jess Jackson in a way to lure him to bring Rachel out there.

I think both men are trying to stick to their guns though because the last time these two owners had a high profile horse in the spotlight and went to the respective "home tracks" (Curlin was actually based at Churchill even though he had 2 wins at Belmont, and Giacomo and Tiago where/are based at based at Hollywood). However, Curlin had no choice, but to go to SA last year if he wanted Horse of the Year and he ran a very respective 4th behind two Euros and a West Coast horse who had experience over synths. And Rachel would be going in the BC with a win over Keenland's poly as a 2yo in an allowance. While Giacomo, even if he hadn't acted up, he would have still lost because frankely Afleet Alex was the better horse and should have been a TC winner. But that is a complaint for another day of why Alex should have been the Derby.

I understand that this is a bussiness, but that doesn't mean I can't be disapointed. BTW the Fasig-Tipton's Saratoga Select Yearling Catologue came out today, not really alot of my favorite stallions foals got in, only really MDO and Rocky. I have to go back and see if DH did, but interesting Birdstone did not. Personally I can't wait till the FT's NYB Catologue comes out, that's where you might find a diamond in the rough.
