Sleepy Band

The Sleepy Hallow while restricted to New York breds, since it's the race was created in 1994 there have been several stakes winners. The likes of Entepreneur, Funny Cide, Friends Lake, Galloping Grocer and Giant Moon have won this race. Add to this list Bandbox, who won this year's edition this afternoon at Belmont. He did won in a very impressive way too.

By Tapit out of the Grand Slam mare Empty the Bases, Bandbox is undefeated. Granted he's only had 3 races under his belt, but he's never started at the same track more then once. He broke his maiden at Laurel on turf. Next it was a surface change from turf to dirt for the Charles Town Juvenile. It turned out to be a no contest as he won by 9 1/2. Here is the CTJ win:

Then today's Sleepy Hallow, he got stuck into some traffic at the begining. Then he had to go four wide before pulling away to win impressively. It will be interesting where Bandbox heads next, maybe the Delta Jackpot? He already has a win against open company, but would be taking a step up in class as it's graded company. We'll have to wait and see what happens with this up and coming colt.
