Line of Stately Huh?

Two races, two major upsets. Stately Victor and Line of David won the Bluegrass and Arkansas Derby respectivly.

The big disapointments of the weekend all came in the Bluegrass, Odyssus, Aikenite, Interactif, Make Music for Me all failed to hit the board. Paddy O' Prado showed that his maiden breaking win in a stakes in Florida was no fluke as he finished a game second. Stately Victor has a decent chance, I don't think a great chance. He is by Ghostzapper out of a Dynaformer mare, so he's bred for the distance. He will def. be helped by a pace situation.

If you are an Eskedereya fan, you should be licking your chops right now.

Line of David is a stablemate to Sidney's Candy and they both are pacesetters. Super Saver basically caught him and Dublin ran out of time. I don't give Dave a huge chance in the Derby, especially with confirmered front runners in Sid and Rule. With his win, Dave completed a 3 out of 4 wins for California in Oaklawn's major races (Blind Luck and Zenyatta winning the Fantasy and Apple Blossom respectivly. Only New Jersey based Duke of Mischief denyed the Cal sweep).

This year's Derby is wide open and I think we could be in for another Big Brown kinda of year possibly.

Don't forget that the chat returns tomorrow at 7pm EDT. I will be having two special panelists, who have agreed to join in tomorrow's chat. I will also have an announcement into the Derby/Oaks Preview and Recap chats. Stay tuned for those!
