BC Preview: Ladies Classic and F/M Turf

The two big races for the 3yo and up females will be previewed today.

F/M Turf

If you told me that the favorite for this race could be a horse owned by Andrew Lloyd Webber the famous composer of Cats and Phantom of the Opera, I would be laughing right now. However, if her connections decide to not take on the boys Dar Re Mi could be that. Forever Together, this is just not the same horse we saw last year, I mean she's done well, but she should have been able to beat Diamondrella and Princess Haya (for the record NOT associated with Shiek Mohammad or his wife, Princess Haya. In matter of fact she comes Texas). Dynaforce won the Beverly D earlier this year, and Pure Clan will always be a tough cookie. Don't count out Midday or Visit either, and last year's Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Maram.

Ladies Classic
Normally known as the Distaff, the Ladies Classic could be the big race of the weekend and not the Classic. And that is a big COULD, for one reason and one reason only: Zenyatta. Will she or won't she defend her Breeder's Cup title, as she is pre-entered into this race and the Classic. If she goes here, she could be in for a slug fest. G1 winners Music Note, Careless Jewel (who any other year would be the Champion 3yo filly), Mushka. Add in DQ'ed G1 winner Proviso (Muska was second in their final prep), Lethal Heat (who could turn around and particpate in the Turf Sprint the very next day pending a physical). Last year's 2yo champion filly in Europe, Rainbow View could be in the discussion as well. Either way, Zenyatta will be the big story line of the weekend. Will she continue the year of the Filly of boy beating by entering the Classic, or stay course and enter the Ladies Classic to defend her title.

Edit: I typed this up before the pre-entries came out, but Zenyatta is more likely for the Classic then the Ladies Classic. And Lethal Heat looks like her connections will have to choose as she would keep a horse out of the Turf Sprint if she where to do the double. Post postions come out on Tuesday, so we will see where everyone ends up.

Turf and the two Breeder's Cup Juvi races tomorrow. The reason why I'm doing these three together I would like to do the Classic by it's self and preview the actual fields starting Tuesday.
