Congrats to Animal Kingdom for winning the first face-off in the War Admiral region! The Affirmed region Poll closes tomorrow. Today's matchup though is a good one between the 1985 winner Spend a Buck and 2006 winner Barbaro. This is in the Seattle Slew region.

March Madness Derby Style: Introduction

Tomorrow is Selection Sunday for Men's Basketball where we will find out who the #1 seeds are. From now until the Derby, the past 30 winners of the big race broken up into 4 "Regions" will be facing off against each other to determine who is the best winner from the last 30 years.  So that means no Secretariat, Sir Barton, War Admiral ect. Sorry. It will be up to you to decide the winner of each face off via a poll that will be open for a week. 2 face offs each week.

Here are the 30 horses along with the regions they will be taking part in (no seeding though). Two regions will have eight horses. Thus they will have an extra face-off.
