Belmont Recap: The Bob Squad (wait what?)

The 2007 Belmont will go down as possibly the best Triple Crown race where the Derby winner was not involved. We all know that Rags to Riches won the race, but second was future two time Horse of the Year Curlin. Today, Curlin got his revenge on the race with his first G1 winner in Palace Malice, Oxbow was second and Orb finished in third. This was both Mike Smith and Todd Pletcher's second Belmont wins, Drosselmeyer in 2010 for Mike and in a little bit of irony Rags' win in 2007 for Todd.

With Curlin getting his first G1 winner, it means that the 1-2-3 from the 2007 Triple Crown first two legs all have G1 winners in their first crop. The other two of course as Hard Spun and Street Sense. So what is the title of the post well apperently the Troy Record called Todd, Bob Belber. Big ups to the Bloodhorse's Claire Novak who posted the picture on Twitter last night. Here are other thoughts from this Triple Crown season:

* For been riding again since January Gary Stevens has been impressive
* Joel Rosario can flat out ride, he is def the leading Eclipse  jockey candidate
* Oxbow is the #1 Three Year Old in the country right now IMO
* Wayne Lukas should be proud of Todd and Kieren as had Orb not been in the race they would have gone 1-2-3-4!
* Golden Soul was a dispointment :( Hopefully he's okay
* Well Tizamazing can now relate to Tizso even more, both have thrown Belmont runner up's

I will have a Pedigree Look on Palace Malice later on this week. Tomorrow will be a very special post as Furlong Drive will celebrate the 40th Aniversary of Secretariat's Belmont win.
