Who has the biggest chance to upset Rachel and Z

This is probley the closest that you'll see Rachel Alexandra, and Zenyatta race on the same weekend. Rachel returns in the G1 Mother Goose, while the Big Z runs in the G1 Vanity.

On paper, they both overmatch the rest of their respective fields. But this post is about some of the other horses in their races.

I'm going to focus on Dawn After Dawn in the Vanity and Flashing in the Mother Goose.

First off is Dawn After Dawn, a daughter of Sucessful Appeal. She is a G2 winner and looks to be better on the synth then dirt. Even though her chance to upset Zenyatta is slim, it could happen. Why? Last year in the Vanity was the race where she had one horse finish behind her closer then normal. That horse, Tough Tiz's Sis went on to win a G1 later that year. So, look for Dawn to finish second and springboard towards the Beverly D (maybe?).

Then there is Flashing, a daughter of AP Indy. She could be the one to upset Rachel if there is anyone. Why, her connections are the same as last year's Mother Goose winner Music Note, who of course upset Proud Spell. But she has one problem about her, she's only won once over a mile, her Nassau win was at seven furlongs. Also that one win over a mile was in an allowance race, but then again Rach won at Keenland in an allowance (to see what I mean by this, go back to yesterday's post). Malibu Prayer and Don't Foget Gil could be better picks to upset her (which I don't think will happen), but I look for her to finish second at best and if Rach some how doesn't get a good trip, then for to win.
