The first major weekend of Derby preps is over. Lets take a look at the winners for both the LeComte and Smarty Jones which where run at the Fair Grounds and Oaklawn respectively. They aren't going to be very long this week. Sorry!
International Star proved me wrong on running well on dirt when he won the LeComte. My pick War Story ran well to finish second. Up next in Louisiana is the Risen Star in a few weeks.
Far Right won the Smarty Jones yesterday after Mr. Z went wide in the stretch. Not 100% sure what went wrong there, but that is usually a sign of tiredness.
This weekend is the Holy Bull as the road to the FL Derby really gets underway. The preview for that will be up on Thursday.
