Friday marks the first day of racing at Saratoga for the year. This will also start the official farewell tour of Tom Durkin as he will be retiring after the Woodward. Here is the big race of the opening day:
Race 3 - Schuylerville S. (Grade III)
Purse $150,000. For Fillies Two Years Old. By subscription of $150 each which should accompany the nomination; $750 to pass the entry box and an additional $750 to start. For horses not origianlly nominated, a supplemental payment of $3,000 along with the entry and starting fees may be made at any time prior to the closing of entries. The purse to be divided 60% to the winner, 20% to second, 10% to third, 5% to fourth, 3% to fifth and 2% divided equally among the remaining finishers.The owner of any two year old who hasbroken its maiden in a race held at the Aqueduct Spring or Belmont Spring/Summer meetings is eligible to receive a one time $100,000 bonus should that horse go on to win a graded sweepstake at any NYRA track in 2014. The bonus will be reflected in the horrse's earnings. 121 Lbs. Non-winners of a race other than maiden or claiming 2 Lbs.; Maidens 4 Lbs. A trophy will be presented to the winning owner. Closed Saturday, July 5, 2014 with 15 Nominations. Six Furlongs.

Although it's a very short field, I like Take Charge Brandi. Her 2nd dam is Take Charge Lady who of course is the dam to Take Charge Indy and Will Take Charge. Evrybdymstgetstonz for second and Fashion Alert for third.
I will be previewing a Saratoga race once a week throughout the meet (I'll only be doing selected races for Del Mar).
