Final Preps Chart

With the Derby a little more then a week away, I thought that I would focus on the final preps of the past 7 runnings of the Run of the Roses. You may be asking yourselves, what do you mean by this? Well I did a little bit of research to put together to following chart.

Anyway some interesting things that I took out of it.

• Every other year, the eventural Derby winner did not win their final prep


• With the exception of three horses (Closing Argument, Lion Heart and Bluegrass Cat), the runner-up won their final prep.


• 2002 was the only race (on this list), where the top three each won their final preps
