In Honor of the Oscars

I will be doing awards on my all time favorite horses. (Hehe)

Best Leading Male Horse (Famous)- Funny Cide for his 2003 Kentucky Derby. I fell in love with Funny shortly right after he won the Derby that year. The big reason why is that he was a NY bred (I was born and spent the first 8 years of my life in New York). He's the reason why I'm interested in horse racing.

Best Supporting Male Horse (Not as famous)- Arcata for his 2006 Maiden win. He faced Hard Spun earlier in the year, and basically got thrashed by him. Won his maiden in the mud, very impressivly. Although he has since been claimed, he does have a small stakes to his name.

Best Leading Female Horse (Famous)- Bird Town for her 2003 Kentucky Oaks- I've always been a fan of hers, even before Birdstone won the Belmont. Her foals have the worst luck in the world, and hope that changes.

Best Suppporting Female Horse (Not as famous)- Mani Bhavan for her 2008 Maiden win. Okay so you're asking yourselves why did I include a G1 winner. First off, she pretty much bombed in her 2yo finale. Secondly, she's not that well known as she hasn't made a start at three yet. I really hope everything is okay with her. I'm sure it is, but you always have to double check these things.

That's really it for tonight. I have a few articles that I want to read through to get more clear before I talk about them but really nothing else to say tonight.
