Didn't get a chance to do videos like I had planned :(. However, that doesn't mean that I don't have picks for this weekend which is the first weekend of the year with several great G1 and G2 races. So here we go:
Dubai Sheema: Main Sequence... the superstar.
UAE Derby: Heart is with Maftool. Not a hundred percent sure he can win it, however the Hard Spun pull is too much.
Dubai World Cup: The horses who have been over there for several months have the advantage, but the Americans came to reclaim what for years had been theirs. Now back on dirt the surface is different then American tracks. The two JPN horses will be tricky and African Story is trying to become the first horse to win the race twice. When everything is said and done... the US gets its crown back. However it's not California Chrome who gets it done. 20 years after his most famous horse won the Inaugural edition, I think Bill Mott wins it again. This time with Lea.
Florida Derby: Upstart vs Itsaknockout the rematch. Hopefully this time the former can race cleanly to keep his win. Also it will go a long way to show there are other horses out there other then the two big ones on the West Coast (American Pharoah and Dortmund).
Louisiana Derby: Can International Star continue his roll down the Big Easy? I think he will def be there in the end, but this time War Story will have enough on his side to get the win and give his sire his second great chance to win the KY Derby, 10 years after his first.
In closing sending hugs to the farms where Concern and Smart Strike stood as both of those amazing MD and ON bred horses passed away recently. Of course Concern a BC Classic winner and Smart Strike 4 time BC race winning sire and 1/2 brother to the legendary Dance Smartly.
