The Cotillion and PA Derby where the two races of the weekend that everyone was watching. Niether had disappointed. Lets take a look at the recaps:
Untapable returned to winner's circle with a gutty win in the Cotillion. Sweet Reason was second and Jojo Warrior was third. My pick of Cassatt finished up track. It would have been interesting if Stopchargingmaria hadn't scratched, but she is heading to next Saturday's Beldame.

As for the Breeders' Cup for Untapable, I think it's going to be very hard for her to beat Close Hatches and Beholder. The 3yo Fillies aren't as strong as they have been the past few years.
The PA Derby was supposed to mark the return of California Chrome's glory. Instead it was Bayern's as he set a track record for 1 1/8th. Tapiture was second and Candy Boy was third. California Chrome could only finish sixth. It seems that the Triple Crown took more out of him then his connections knew.

Bayern could go in into the Dirt Mile where he would face Goldencents or the Classic. The problem is he is more a nine furlong horse then a 10 furlong horse. The former is a better race for him, but the latter is more glory. No horse has completed the Haskell/BC Classic double I believe and a win in that could garner him Horse of the Year honors. That being said, he will be pressured in the Classic and could faulter big time there like he did in the Travers.
However the race on Saturday was the Gallant Bloom at Belmont. Ballerina winner Artimis Agrotera picked up her second win against older horses this time in a photo finish.

She could give Sweet Reason fits in the F/M Sprint.
So we are now getting into the big weekend, Super Saturday! Preps next week in England, New York and California. Check RTTBC blog for more information.
Till later this week (hopefully).
