Race Weeks Picks Week 3: Penn National (It's been a while)

Wow! I can't believe that I haven't done a Race Week Pick post since shortly after I started it. I'll take blame for that as I finally going to get the ball running on that again. It helps that I have a working computer again. Anyway even though the big race on Saturday's Penn National is the Penn Mile, I will only be previewing the Mountainview Handicap. No sire's this week, but those will return for the next RWP post which will be in 2 weeks. Here is this year's field for the Mountainview:

Arlo- Running at Parx since October of last year, won last time out. Last stakes start was a 5th place finish two back.

Ruler On Ice- Not the same horse he was going into the 2011 Belmont. Was 2nd in a small stakes at Monmouth in May, but uptrack in most of his races last year with the exception of a win at Aqueduct in 2013 debut. That was the first time since the Belmont he won. First start of the year.

Last Gunfighter- Won the Hawthorne Gold Cup after finishing fifth in the BCC last year. While not a G1 caliber horse, he could have a chance to pick up more G2's this year and who knows maybe grab a late G1 race. First start of the year.

Taptowne- Second in the Texas Mile in last and 3rd in the Razorback before that. Ran well in smaller stakes last year after finishing second in the Oaklawn Handicap.

Sailor's Revenge- Won Allowance win in his last. First stakes start since a 2yo (2012) where he finished 3rd and 6th in back to back stakes.

Golden Ticket- Has won only twice since his 2012 Travers dead-heat win, but was second in the Dirt Mile last year and 2nd in the Alysheba in his last start.

Percussion- 3rd in the Excelsior in his last, ran well in his two stakes before that. 2nd in last year's Brooklyn.

Picks- 1st: Golden Ticket 2nd: Last Gunfighter 3rd: Ruler On Ice

Good luck to all and safe travels!
