Cotillion and PA Derby preview

Even without PA bred Princess of Sylmar, the G1 Cotillion looks like a pretty good race. The PA Derby however, is a rematch of the 1-2 from the Travers and could have an interesting say in 3yo honors. Lets take a look at both fields.

Close Hatches won the Mother Goose, but skipped the the Alabama to come here. Sweet Lulu is undefeated and won a G1 in her last, but she stretches out to two turns here. Carnival Court third in the Alabama could be the horse to beat here. Also don't count out My Happy Face (who is cross entered into the Charles Town Oaks, so she might scratch) who is always tough and Delaware Oaks winner Dancing Afleet.

This is a rematch of the Travers between the winner Will Take Charge and the runner up Moreno. Since then the runner up's connections have accused the winning jockey Luis Saez of having a buzzer in his hand during the race. While to me it looks inconclusive, a result has not been announced at this time. Even with that, Moreno ran his eyeballs out in the Travers and honestly I don't think he will run well again. Fury Kapcori is 1 for 1 on dirt, but hasn't run on the surface in over a year. Java's War makes his first start with his new trainer and will try to rebound from his post Derby last place finish. This is Will Take Charge's race to lose.
