Sadness

Today's post was originally going to be the Pedigree Look post on Royal Heroine. However, I've decided to wait until next week to do that post. Instead, today's post is about the sadness that I had this morning I found out that Questing (GB) who had some very exciting races this past summer on her way to 3yo Championship has been retired after contracting pneumonia while recovering from surgery.

There have been only two horses whose retirements I've been truly sad about. The first was Funny Cide and now Questing. Now granted, Funny was seven when he retired, but he was still the first horse that I followed. The news of Questing's retirement ends a rough week for Kieran McLaughlin who also lost Soldat to retirement after an injury. Questing will be going to Bernardini which I'm not too thrilled about.  However she is owned by Darley, so I don't blame them for supporting their stallions.

I wish Questing the best of luck in her new career!

In other news, tomorrow is a great day of racing. The Donn, Animal Kingdom's last US start, the Martha Washington and the Shawnee River which features Queen's Plate winner Inglorious and Hard Not to Like. For those being effected by the blizzard, stay safe!
