A Luck of a Career

It appears that the career of the wonderful Blind Luck is over. She will be sold at Keeneland's November Breeding Stock Sale. In all likelyhood that will lead her to her next career path, motherhood. While it's very disapointing to see her go, hopefully she goes to a good home.

Blind Luck was not expected to have the career that she did. She was bought for $11,000 at Fasig Tipton's July sale, and started her career at Calder in a Maiden Claiming race. She's earned over 3 million dollars and has won 5 G1's including the Kentucky Oaks. Plus she swept the two major Delaware races, the Delaware Oaks which was the first meeting between her and her arch rival Havre de Grace, and the Delaware Handicap which was a thriller.

Here are some photos of her and Grace that I took at Delaware Park when she came for what is most likely her final win, in the Delaware Handicap.

On her way to the paddock to prepare for battle.  I showed this photo before in Black and White, but for some I wanted to show off the photo in color.

The rivals hook up once more, Blind Luck would go on to win by a nose
Relishing the Glory
If this indeed her last stop before her broodmare career starts, then what a career it was for her. I'll miss her come behind Zenyatta like proformances. No doubt a Hall of Famer when she become eligible.
