Enough!

As most people know the Breeders' Cup calls itself the "Thoroughbred World Championships". Sadly though I believe this is untrue now, especially since there are several high profile horses which include Canford Cliffs who defeated Goldikova at Royal Ascot this morning (afternoon in the UK) and Aussie super filly Black Caviar are two horses who are unlikely to come. So what does the BC decide to do? Take a way a race? Of course not, the add one instead. Starting this year a Juvenile Sprint will be added to Friday's card.

Really? No one cares about juvenile sprints, because most of the horses' owners want them to stretch out to try the Juvenile or Juvenile Fillies. All they are doing is watering down the number of quality races. F/M Sprint- okay, but females have had success in the Sprint. Marathon- Great! There are not enough distance races over 1 1/4 in the US anymore. Juvenile Turf and Filly Turf- also good because it will get more international horses over. Dirt Mile- somewhat mixed bag for me as it's a quarter of a mile shorter then the Classic, but a good choice. However, the Juvenile Sprint has gone too far.

It's clear that the Breeders' Cup doesn't seem to be in tune with not only what the bettors want, but fans like myself. Also it will change up what trainers and owners will want/need to do.

So Breeders' Cup thanks for watering down yet again what was originally ONE great day of racing. For that reason people might not be watching.
