So here we are, the final race of the Triple Crown season. On Saturday around 6:30ish (I think) the winner of the Belmont Stakes should be in the winners circle and drapped with the carnations. With that another Triple Crown season will be over, and the focus for the next couple weeks will be on older horses.
Before we look to this year's Belmont, I thought that it would be a good time to look at one of my favorite Belmont's. This race took place in 1978. Of course I'm talking about Affirmed and Alydar's duel at Big Sandy.

I'll have a few more Belmont reflections later this week, but for now after a week off just trying to get back into the swing of things.
