This is a dream field, not the best of all time or anything: Sea the Stars (Euro) Eskendereya*, Native Dancer (revenge), Rachel Alexandra (Oaks), Sham (poor guy), Alydar (2nd-2nd-2nd), Easy Goer (best'89?), Dr. Fager*, Tom Fool*, Buckpasser*, Damascus (Derby day was a bad day), Gallant Man (Shoemaker 16th pole), Nashua (Swaps), Nijinsky (Eng TriCrwn), Deep Impact (Jap TriCrwn), Invasor (Uru TriCrwn), Forego (Big Red victim), Nearco (Italy), Dubai Millennium (Godolphin), Nureyev (3for3 really)

List of could-a-beens, Euro's, and tough beats. All were great at 3, but the Derby either eluded their grasp or was thousands of miles away. A top pick would probably be Gallant Man. He's not most talented, but he had the lead and was pulled up a 1/16 pole early. No worse beat than what Shoemaker pulled off there.
