Welcome to the Vault Series! This time around I'm going to be doing a series of races. In this case the Strub Series which is made up of the Malibu, the San Fernando and Strub. Today it will be the Malibu. This will be the shortest of the three vaults as well as today we only have one winner.

By Tom Fool out of a War Admiral mare who in turn was a granddaughter to the great La Troienne, Buckpasser was ment to be a champion. An award winner every year he was racing, including Horse of the Year as a 3yo. Along with winning 15 races consectutively, he was named Champion Broodmare sire 4 times and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1970.

One of his most famous foals was Numbered Account who was a Champion in her own right. More importanly she foaled Private Account (sire of Personal Ensign and her full brother Personal Flag), and Dance Number (dam of Get Lucky who is the (granddam of Bluegrass Cat and Super Saver respectively), and Champion colt Rhythm).

The San Fernanado installment will be next week.

  1. Cool old school video...too bad the Phipps Stable hasn't sent horses to California much in my lifetime.

What do you believe the potential of TWIRLING CANDY will be off his Malibu win last Sunday?

    Happy New Year!

  2. Funny that you mention that, I wrote a post a few days ago saying that Twirling Candy is no Spectactular Bid. With that being said, I think that Smiling Tiger can and will beat him next time out.
