As we move from Spring to Summer racing, lets look foward to some upcoming races that will be run in the next few months.
It starts this weekend with 3 G1's, 2 G2's, and 2 G3's. The Stephen Foster will be featuring Blame, defending champ Macho Again, General Quarters, Battle Plan and Honest Man among others. Also on the card will be Flus de Lis which could be the most important race in Rachel Alexandra's career and her partnership with Calvin Borel. The Californian and Vanity are also this week, they will feature Rail Trip and Zenyatta facing at the least only 2 other horses. Up in New York it's the Ogden Phipps featuring Funny Moon and Rachel conquer Unriveled Belle, meanwhile down here in Delaware it's the Obeah which is the local prep for the Delaware Handicap. War Echo leads the field here with Morena also in the mix. At Monmouth it's the UN prep the Monmouth Stakes featuring the always entertaining Presious Passion.
Over the next few weeks more and more Triple Crown trail names popping up in the entry box weeks. Also the Woodbine Oaks is Sunday with the Queen's Plate on July 4th (to corspond with the Queen being in Canada at that time, I know when the Queen went to the Derby a few years ago it was big deal and Calvin got to go to the White House since Street Sense was the winner). The Delaware Oaks and DelCap two races that could be key race when it comes to the Fall races. Also the Swaps, Hollywood Gold Cup, Travers, Pacfic Classci Whitney, Personal Ensign and of course the Woodward which could be the race of the year outside of the BCC if all the players show up.
It's going to be a pretty exciting Summer and I'll be covering it all! Weekend Preview will be out on Friday!
