Sorry guys! I've been somewhat busy with a few things. However quick recap for today, the sales topper was the Medaglia d' Oro x Wait A While filly for $1,575,000 who was bought by Todd Pletcher for an currently unnamed owner. I will have my other picks and how they did in a little bit.

FT Saratoga Selected Yearlings Recap (Day 1)

This is a recap of my Day 1 picks for the 2012 Fasig Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearling Sale, the horses will be in Hip Number Order. Like with the July Sale, I've color coded all of the bolded text. If the text is green that means the horse met his or her reserve and was sold. If the text is red, then that means the reserve was not met. I will also post the price where bidding had stopped at. If both the bolded text and the none bolded text is blue then that means that the horse was taken out of the sale to be either kept, sold at a future sale or was privately sold. There might be RNA's might have been privately sold, if that's happened then the text is Orange.

2012 Fasig Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale Preview (Day 2)

The Saratoga Selected Yearlings Sale up in Saratoga Springs, NY is one of the most important yearling auctions in the world. This year's edition will take place on August 6^th and 7^th. Today's post will focus on Day 2 which consists of Hips 95-189. These picks are based on pedigree and/or the race records of the sire and dam.

Hip 96 chestnut colt Giant's Causeway x Spain (Thunder Gulch): Sire was the runner up in the 2000 Breeders' Cup Classic and is the sire of Shamradal, Giant Oak and Aragorn (IRE). Dam is a multiple G1 winner and the winner of the 2000 Breeders' Cup Distaff and was runner up in 2001. The colt is a ¾ brother to G1 placed Plan (Storm Cat) and full brother to G1 placed in England Dreamtheimpossible (Giant's Causeway).

Hip 102 bay filly Dynaformer x Super Freaky (Smart Strike): Sire won the Jersey Derby and has Barbaro, Americain, and Rainbow View among his foals. Dam is a G3 winner and is G2 placed. This is the same family as Kentucky Derby winner Silver Charm (Silver Buck).

Hip 106 Mettlesome drk. bay/brown colt Medaglia d' Oro x Sweet Symphony (A.P. Indy): Sire is a multiple G1 winner and is the sire of Passion for Gold, Al Khali and C.S. Silk among others. Dam is a G1 winner and hails from the same female family as Hall of Famer Holy Bull (Great Above).

Hip 125 chestnut colt Street Sense x Added Time (Gilded Time): The sire was a Kentucky Derby winner, and is the sire of Motor City, Street Life, and Castaway. The colt is a ½ brother to G1 winner Irish Smoke (Smoke Glacken) and staeks winner King Puma (Forest Wildcat).

Hip 126 bay filly (born in Ireland) Galileo (IRE) x Adoration (Honor Grades): The sire is a champion in Europe and has New Approach, Soldier of Fortune (IRE) and Frankel (GB). The dam is a G1 winner including the Breeders' Cup Distaff.

Hip 134 chestnut filly Distorted Humor x Appealing Storm (Valid Appeal): Same sire as Flower Alley, Commentator and Funny Cide. The filly is a 1/2 to G1 winner Vacare (Lear Fan), G3 winner Single Solution (Flatter), and G3 winner in France Abtaal (Rock Hard Ten).
